Default question about avatars

I have photoshop and I was wondering how to get no background on a JpG image, so that the background is clear.

I just copied the color on mine

You can't have a transparent background on a .jpg. Make it a .gif. (.png would also be a choice for transparency, but it's not supported in IE yet.)

If Firefox didn't consume 100% of my CPU to run Flash animations, I would say screw IE completely. But alas, Firefox still has a few things to work out, and IE is still very widely used, so you have to take that into account when making anything for the Internet.
